Ever looked at your dog and wondered how much of her emotional life
is like your own? This seminar explores the biology of emotion in
people and dogs, combining slides, videos and hands-on work with
demonstration dogs.
You’ll learn what emotions really are, and how much of primal
emotions like happiness, fear and anger are shared by you and your dog.
This day-long seminar looks at both the differences and similarities of
emotions in dogs and people, and includes solutions to problems
motivated by fear and anger. The day ends with an in-depth examination
of why we love dogs as much as we do, and celebrates the bond between us
and our four-footed friends. This video is a perfect companion for
Patricia's new book by the same name found in the book section of this
page. 4 DVD’s |

Feeling a bit outnumbered by your pack of dogs? Maybe there’s a bit too much excitement at the door when visitors come to
call? Or perhaps there’s some tension between two of your dogs and you want to be sure it doesn’t escalate. Feeling
Outnumbered is designed to help with all that and more, by emphasizing fun, positive exercises that teach your dogs to be
patient and polite, rather than pushy and demanding.
Included is how to teach dogs to be polite at the door, how to stop dogs from competing for your attention, the value of a
“Group Stay,” and much, much more. The exercises, clearly illustrated by Patricia McConnell in her own home, will be most
useful if you and your dogs have a few basic signals under your belt, but whatever your stage of training expertise, this
video will help anyone who loves their dogs, and wouldn’t mind living with a little less canine commotion! |
|
Would you like your dog to come EVERY time you call? If so, this specially produced video is for you. Join Patricia
McConnell on her farm for a forty-five minute discussion and demonstration of how to teach your dog to come when called,
what to do when he doesn't come during training sessions, and how to proof a solid recall through difficult distractions.
This clear and concise video includes demonstration dogs of all descriptions and is filmed in the beautiful green hills of
southern Wisconsin. This is not a seminar video, but an instructional video produced by Tawzer Dog Videos. Wisconsin,
2004 |
|
This half day presentation will use slides and videos to help you “read” dogs so that you can predict and influence their
behavior. As we all know, dogs communicate to one another with a range of visual signals. Some of these signals are pretty
obvious - you don’t need a PhD. to tell you that the dog snarling and lunging at you might be trouble - but some signals are
more subtle. These signals are still excellent predictors of a dog’s internal state, and the better you are at reading them,
the safer you’ll be. Dogs are also strongly influenced by the visual signals they pick up from you and subtle changes in
which way your body leans, your breathing patterns and your clothing can actually have a big effect on how a dog responds to
you.
The goal of this presentation is to help you to prevent problems when you interact with household dogs, to be able
to predict trouble if you can’t, and get yourself into a safe situation. Wisconsin, 2004 |
